Merry Christmas...

I love Charles Dickens story " A Christmas Carol", the story of a man's cry from "bah-humbug" to "Joy to the World" is heartwarming.  We watch this show every year at Christmas.  We've seen  many different productions from Jim Carrey to the Muppets and the story is always moving.  There is another story that was written nearly 2,000 years ago that has never changed and its message is life changing. Books have been written about it; songs have been composed about it; and a season has been devoted to it.  People have tried to stamp out its message but it has prevailed and it will continue to endure as long as someone believes.  No, it's not the message of Santa and his reindeer but the message of a new born King, the Hope of the nations.  The message was recorded by a physican who investigated these amazing claims and came away believing. His name was Luke and he recorded his investigation of eye witness accounts in Luke 2. There's been much controversy about this portion of Scripture but I believe it's message and I think its truth will continue to stand under scruity.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census
should be taken of the entire Roman world.

(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)

And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea,
to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

He went there to register with Mary,
who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

While they were there,
the time came for the baby to be born,
and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.

She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger,
because there was no guest room available for them.

Merry Christmas!
