I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date

I often feel like the rabbit that drew Alice down the rabbit hole; run, run, run, no time for a pause or the minute hand will click over and another minute will be lost. Here it is March; doesn't it seem like we just celebrated New Year's a couple of weeks ago. Where did the time go?

Time is a funny thing, if you are waiting for something, something that is positive, time drags on for what seems like eternity. But, if you are hurrying to meet deadlines, waiting on surgery, trying to clean the house for company, having to fess up to something you did wrong, on vacation or enjoying a weekend (you can add your own list here), time seems to pass like water in a rained filled river.

Why are we always chasing after time? What would happen if we slowed down for a minute and enjoyed the moment? Stopped what we are doing and spent time with our children or grand children? Stopped to wrap our arms around our husbands and tell them how wonderful they are? Stopped to pet the dog/cat that is demanding our attention (which Sadie is doing at this moment)? Stopped to look at the beauty around us, or listen to the rain.......Here is a stanza from a song by "Superchic" called "We Live"; You will find a link to this song at the end of the post, if you've never heard it, I hope you will check it out.

There's a man who waits for the tests to
See if the cancer had spread yet
And now he asks why did I wait to live 'til it was time to die
If I could have the time back, how I'd live
Life is such a gift
So how does the story end?
Well, this is your story and it all depends
So don't let it become true
Get out and do what we were meant to do

This past week, I slowed down to enjoy my grand children. I had errands to run after work and I took one of them with me each day that I had to go do something. I took my grandson by Tropical Smoothie and enjoyed watching him slurp (and I do mean slurp) his smoothie. That smoothie may have been a treat for him but watching him was a treat for me! I then took him to Lowes; he loves that place, I do too. Another day I took my granddaughter to pick out a birthday gift for someone; she loves to shop. It was so much fun watching her look over the items, notice the details and give reasons why that item would make a great gift. What a delightful time we had. I might add that I called my husband on each of these excursions and invited him so he could enjoy these moments with me.

I have several projects I am in the middle of finishing; these are projects I actually enjoy working on, not the kind of things I feel rushed to finish but the kind of things I want to slow down and finish. I plan to put aside the house work and other things that are pulling at my attention once I get home and enjoy some time working on these projects this week. Ahh, just thinking about it gives me a shiver of anticipation.

How about you? Why not slow down this week and do something you enjoy. I'm going to finish 3 items I started a couple of weeks ago (that will leave only 2 items to finish). If you can steal a few minutes (or an hour or so) what will you do with your stolen moments?

Take time and enjoy this day

I heard it said one time, "if Satan cannot get you to be bad; he will get to be busy". It is so true! Thanks for the reminder. Blessings!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, a reminder we all need to heed! Isn't it crazy that we let our lives get so busy that we need that reminder to slow down and enjoy the people and things around us?

I keep a crazy schedule because of my littlest one. My husband was always on me to get into a better routine but once I told him I do this for our little guy because it's the best way for us to spend time together before he goes to all day school later this year, he understood and doesn't complain about it now. Our time together is so precious so I'll take it any way I can get it!

Enjoy your week Willa!
