A New Purpose

Hi Blogger Friends: A few weeks ago I showed you a photo of this pot lid my Sweetie found and thought I could use.  It had lost it's purpose.  It was no longer a mate to the pot it had once belonged to.  I must admit, when he first gave it to me I left it in the spare room for quite a while.  I finally moved it to my studio table where it sat for a little while longer. While it sat there I studied it, considering what use I could give it, after all it's a lid. Then it came to me; the handle would make a perfect towel holder.  Once that was settled I began to consider a design for it.

You would think that painting it would be the easy part, well, at least that is I what I thought.   Hmm, I may not have admitted it here before but I really don't like prepping and base coating a project; I usually put off working on things because of it.  I could paint endlessly (ok, that word is longer than I really mean) if I didn't have to prep and basecoat.  Ok, back to my story...where was I?  O yes...painting the lid. I knew kinda of what I wanted on the lid but didn't really have a pattern;  so with a vision in my head I picked up the brush and started painting.  First I put in the snowmen and then carts.  Now what?  I painted this and that and then covered over it; painted again and then covered it again.....urrgh!  It took several attempts before I got what I wanted and then I tightened down the details.  This is the final product....whew!  Nothing like flying by the seat of your pants and hoping something will turn out.

I will be adding a wire hanger to it so it can hang on the wall. Wouldn't a prim towel be a nice finishing touch to this piece?  Click on the photos to see an close-up view.

Have you ever considered what your purpose is?

Til next time
