A Day Off....

Today I was thinking of the "peanut" song...you know, "found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peanut just now; I just now found a peanut, found a peanut just now, (aren't you glad that song is stuck in your head now?). Well, I wasn't thinking so much of the peanut as the part "called the doctor, called the doctor...". For the past couple of weeks I have been feeling "under the weather". I felt like I had to drag myself into doing everything that needed to be done.. I was tired from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed. I get up pretty early to go to work so I was thinking I'm simply exhausted from the hours I keep. I felt like I was starting to get a uti but one day I would feel ok ( in the uti department) and the next day I didn't. Tuesday a slight ache began in my left side and by Wednesday evening it was so bad it hurt to walk. Being the committed loyal employee that I am, I got up Thursday morning and went to work; the pain in my side had lessened considerbly but I'm a little worried about what that might be. At 8:30 that morning, I went out to my car, located my family practice gal, Dr. H, on my phone, dialed the office number and made an appointment for after work. Let me tell you, that work day was the longest day...it dragged by, minute my minute.

  Finallllly, the forever work day ended and I headed to the drs office; traffic on the outer loop of the Beltway was backed up and I just knew I was going to be late for my appointment. However, once I made it off the Beltway and onto I-66 it was smooth sailing. As I was flying down, ooops, I mean driving down the freeway I started thinking about my appointment and how I shouldn't have went to the "ladie's room" before I left work. Fortunally by the time I got to Dr H's office I had to go pee, because you know if you are going in for a uti, you will have to pee in a cup. I love Dr. H, she never sugar coats or dresses up what she wants to say, she walks into the exam room and declares..."you win the prize, your pee lit up like a Christmas tree, even the nurse was impressed". I"m so glad I could impress her, I'm sure she's seen a lot of crazy things in her field of work and a litmus strip lighting up like a Christmas tree from pee, well, I'm sure that's something to talk about around the dinner table. Hmmmm....I wonder if it would work on my Christmas tree.

So, I have a really bad bladder infection, and a sinus infection; I really shouldn't let these things go so long. Btw, the side pain was related to the uti. Dr H also said I have some fluid in my right lung....huh? She asked me if I had been coughing a lot and I said "no, not at all". Have you had a fever? "no, I have to be dying to have a fever" ( I just never get them). Have you had any chills? " yes, I've had lots of those" (just thought it was because I was cold). So, she gave me some heavy duty meds, told me to rest ( you gotta be kidding) and gave me paper work for some blood work ( whaaaaa!!! I don't want no shots!) and made me set up another appt with her for a longer visit....hmmmm. what's going on?  I was a good girl and made the appointment.

After all this, I am glad I have today off, I need to recover.
